Safety and Security

Safety & Security at 1L Kids

We take the security of our church family and especially our children very seriously! From the training of our volunteers to our on-site security team, we want you to know we have taken every precaution to ensure the safety and security of your child.

1L Kids Ministry Volunteer Process

All of our adult volunteers must fill out an application, sign a “Character Covenant” & “Child Protection Commitment” statement, review and adhere to our Child Protection Safety Policy Manual, pass a background check, have a skillful screened interview with the Children’s Pastor, and complete the Abuse Awareness Training from Ministry Safe in order to serve in Kids Ministry.

What is Ministry Safe?

Ministry Safe is an organization whose mission is to protect children and those who serve them. They provide the training and resources that help organizations keep kids safe. For more information visit their website at ministrysafe.com.

Check In & Security Team

We have everyone who brings their child to the Kids Ministry to visit out Check In station to check their child in. Our volunteers will explain the process to parents on how we use name & security tags as well as the policy for the different age groups.

We have a security team that patrols the entire campus of First Lavaca during service. There are multiple security team members throughout the children ministry monitoring hallways, classrooms, entrances, & exits. All security personally have to pass our  specialized training with many being emergency personnel, law enforcement, or military.
